I finally did it. I ran my first marathon after 18 months of training, injury, recovery, and retraining. So happy to have survived this accomplishment. I will never forget it!
Here’s my video recap of the weekend and the race. 🙂

Congratulations! I’m so happy and excited for you! My first marathon went downhill after mile 8; like you, I think I just started out too fast of a pace, and then the temperature got really warm and I started to feel nauseous. The next 18 miles were the longest of my life and I probably spent more time walking than running, but I was determined to finish, even if I had to crawl across the finish line. Support from my family really got me through! I ended up finishing in 6 hours, 22(?) minutes, so you did better than me, but for me it wasn’t about the time, it was the fact that I finished. I’m still incredibly amazed and proud of myself that I was able to do it. Isn’t it an amazing feeling to be able to say that you did a marathon?? Let’s hope that we both have an awesome 2nd marathon this fall! I think we will! I’ll definitely be cheering for you! Again, great job and welcome to the marathon club! 🙂
